When I was 5 my family packed up our Chevrolet Celebrity and headed up north to explore Canada.
We stopped at a gift shop and I recall wandering around trying to pick out the perfect souvenir.
After much deliberation, I ended up settling on a glow in the dark unicorn.
When I got home, I put it on my bookshelf and whenever I shut the lights off before bed, it would glow for a good 5 minutes or so before it dimmed or I fell asleep.
These days I can’t help but feel like Canada is well represented by that unicorn.
A beautiful, glowing, mythical place where everyone is polite and hockey and maple syrup and Justin Trudeau flow abundantly.
